Two lovely questions. Stripe care and skippy wipers.

First...

What is the best way to care for vinyl stripes? Hand wash and wax with the rest of the paint; is fine?

Second...

My wipers skip across the glass when they are in use. Even if the window is soaked in water. Ideas?

Thanks!

the wiper arms have several joints in them that allow them to fit to the curve of the windshield. see if they all move freely. i dont know if the wipers on S197s will do this, but you can flip them up and turn on the wipers. see if they travel through their range of motion smoothly. just be careful, on some cars it would cause them to hit the hood. check before turning on the wipers.

if any of this does not look ok, have the dealer replace under warranty. i dont think a wiper job would be too hard for them. not too much to mess up.

I thought the stripes on the Shelby GT's were painted? I would hope they are considering the extra coin you spend on them.

sooooo basically the shelby has vinyl stickers, stapled on hood scoop, more flowing exhaust, intake and tune, plastered with shelby badging and is wayyy more expensive then the standard gt......

FAIL :notnice:

I love jealousy...

shelby has vinyl stickers
Same as the GT500, and KR, and SS.

stapled on hood scoop
Actually, it's bolted. The revised version is riveted and bolted.

more flowing exhaust, intake and tune
Yes, from Ford Racing.

plastered with shelby badging
Yes, including the $250 "powered by Ford badges" that everyone wants. Plus, the aluminum dash plaque, sill plates, underhood badge, and so on.

and is wayyy more expensive then the standard gt
About $8300 more WITH gas-guzzler tax.

BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is also the COMPLETE ford racing suspension, the Hurst shifter, the fact that the car is limited production, the hood pins, the billet grill, the California Special bumpers, the side scoops, the black-spoked rims, and so on..

Plus the fact that all of the Ford racing parts include the factory warranty.. if you install them yourself, they void the warranty.

This isn't the first time someone has tried to bash the SGT's on stangnet..

Carry on.. :)

Excuse me mr "shelby's gt's are the best evarrrr"

I'm just baffled, i had no idea that they can mark up a car sooo much for basically cosmetic enhancements. I also didn't know that the stripes are vinyl. Having the hoodscoop bolted or riveted along with vinyl stripes is complete bull chit and you know it.. I don't care how many places it says "shelby"... this is susposed to be a reputable car.. Bolted on hood scoop? why not change the hood entirely so the scoop is built in? and paint on the stripes, then i would pay the 8300 over standard gt sticker..

For you info im not jealous one bit. and stop saying i was "bashing them" im simply baffled as to the cheezyness of that stuff, no wonder ford is tanking hard. If i had my choice between an 03/04 terminator, or a shelby GT or gt500 i'd go terminator..

the KR however...

All the Ford "special" Stangs use vinyl. SGT, GT500, KR and so on. Even what little badging Saleen's have are vinyl.

I agree that painted would be better but it's not a show stopper by any means. I am very proud of the work Shelby did do on the car. It's a "DONE" Mustang out of the box. I ain't-gotta-do-Jack-sh--to-it. And I like that.

Oh and one more thing....IT'S A REAL SHELBY MUSTANG.

Thank you for playing.

I wouldn't hesitate one bit and have the original color stripes painted on. Even at resale time, who would turn down nice shiney smooth stripes as opossed to possible faded/weathered vinyl  If I were only doing a single mod to the SGT that would have to be the one! No stripe care, no getting wax along the edges, no peeling, no anything...
