Alright its been two weeks since I got my stang and here's a bit of an update. I absolutely love this car. For the price (or cheaper) I can't think of a car I'd rather get. The V8 is amazing, the exhaust is awesome, the car is just plain ol' beautiful. However, there are some things I didn't expect. Today I found out I had to get a new gas tank (it pours out the bottom after it clicks at fill up). This isn't TOO bad because I work at Ford Service and I can get it done with no hassle.

The ride is also not really what I expected. I don't know if its the lack of the IRS but bumps are taken hard. When the roads are smooth there are no complaints but every little rivet in the road goes CLUNK. The trans makes some unusual noises but I can deal with that.

The worst and best thing about this car is the attention it receives. I get people in civics that fly past me on the highway at 100mph thinking they're faster than me because they can reach top speed and go by while I obey traffic laws. Then there's the occasional older guy in the 40th Anniversary GT that likes to rev at me and look cool. And always the guys in the Vette boasting how their car that almost costs twice as much is faster. But on the other hand lots of looks and lots of thumbs up. Just hard to get used to. Especially the people thinking all I wanna do is race.

All in all I give the car a 9 outta 10 in my book. Just awesome. (Could use some more power though :D )

i like these follow up posts, they really show the pros and cons honestly

with a new car, everyone feels like they have something to prove against it, it will probably settle down

Well, yeah it over fills then shoots out the small point under where you fill and spills behind the rear wheel. They told me its the gas tank issue. (unless this is just normal???).

The one thing..ONE THING..I'd actually change about the new mustang is under the fenders. I'd either double coat them or line them with plastic. It always sounds like someone is throwing rocks at my car as I drive. On my ranger I had plastic and wasn't that affected by it. I worry too much about scratches.

But yeah this is basically all just opinion. I love this car :D :D :D :D

Get used to people wanting to race, Its the way it looks, it invites competition! The Firebird I had was the same way, of course it was an embarrasment to be caught at the front of a light in because it couldnt take anybody! At least when you want to give somebody a go you have the horsies to do it!

Pliskin,

Every buttmunch out there has a tendency to want to prove their masculinity when they see your Stang. Just let them pull their ricer blow-bys. It will feel so much better when you see them up the road, pulled over and shining in the Red and Blue lights of "Ta' Man"...

You know what's under your hood and so de we. hahahahha....

Now, get that tank fixed so you can give the GT a 10!!

I have to agree with you, i got my car on the 19th and i just love it. the interior is awesome and it looks amazing.:D I could be critical about a few things like the cup holders when your trying to shift, and a few other things but the pros outway the cons. I especially like the sound when your passing someone on the highway in 4th gear, you can almost see the person your passing drooling as your flying by.:nice: The only thing i get nervous about is washing her. i bought all the expensive stuff from meguiars but im still not confident enough in the product. i washed it once because on my way back from the dealer it started raining, but now im keeping it out of the rain t'il i store it in a couple of weeks. Its hard to wash a vehicle when its 5 degrees celcius. enjoy your car, i know im enjoying mine.:D :D

I agree about the hard ride, as for the looks....even the law men stare me down.
Now I have cruise control I have noticed how much everybody speeds. It's funny to see em stopped.
They recently dropped the speed limit on our highway to 55 and they are generating a lot of revenue from that.

I love the Auto windows.

Now this is a question for the Torch Red guys out there (GT or V6).

What's the deal with the birds and bugs on the car? The day I bought it I noticed all kinds of bugs gathering and dying on my car (I'm guessing thats whats attracting the birds). Now the bugs fly off in the wind, but the birds walk on my car with little claws and crap...EVERYWHERE. Is it the red or do they just love my car as much as I do?

Well, now it seems there is a "breaking in" period for the car. It may not be as dramatic as other cars but now the car is more responsive and has more umph. I guess the car is just learning how I drive. I just enjoy it so much..the driving...the looks...everything.

Oh and about the washing.. I bought the Mr. Clean car wash system and it works great for me. I did that first then threw down some carnuba wax. I didn't do a very good job because it was almost night time but the car wash system still works. I recommend it. Still I find it hard to do. I worry about scratches too much. I had to get my license plate holes drilled today and almost cried watching them take a drill to my bumper. :p

Car goes in the shop tomorrow for the gas tank. I know the tech so I'll watch him on my lunch break. Lol he's a friend but I still want to know what's going on. Wish me luck!

Hey all. Now entering me third week and am already thinking towards the future. My first performance step I want to take is a CAI and a tune. Everyone here at the dealer tells me not to cause it'll suck in water and blow my engine....So I'll debate it for a while. I'm lookin for some good cat back exhaust to put on and then I'll head into body mods (nothing major).

Any experience to share?

Going to school today I got passed by some skinny 12 year old in a Z28 on a no passing road. I'm glad he almost got himself, me, and the guy coming the other direction killed. Dang this car grabs attention!!

YUP!!! I confirm, I've raced a grand total of 0 times in my new stang, but I've lost about 875 races so far. I wonder if these guys go home and post on message boards that they wasted the new mustang with their civic?

I'd have to agree with our original poster. Two weeks and 600 miles later, I couldn't be happier! I haven't experienced the gas filling issue, but my radio does skip frequently on MP3 discs; even when the car ISN'T moving! The looks, comments, sound of the car, all very exciting! :D

Mileage is my only complaint. But the only person to blame for that is ME!

Try and keep it off of hwy 100. (you Milwaukee area folks know what I'm talking about)
