U/D pulley install

I went over to a buddies today to try and install my U/D pullies. We decided to start with the alt pulley because I heard it was the biggest pain in the ass and required a torque wrench. Anyway, we start goin at it and we realize there isn't enough room to fit the gun in to get the bolt off, and of course, with a ratchet, the pullies just spin. Is there anyway we can get the bolt loosened without buying any new tools or any stuff like that?

Thanks for the advice.

Alot of autozone's, Adv autoparts, pepboys stores have electric impact guns which will take it off real easy, but finding someone who works there who know's how to use it, that's another story. I would go to a autoshop and be polite and ask one of them to get it off with the impact gun. Offer a tip, like $5, get a good PR with them and it will pay off down the road. BTW, it's a 15/16" nut. I work in a shop, and have no problem with simple things like this, as long as they arn't expecting me to do something like it's my duty or something, or they want to get into a bunch of small talk. We call those annoying people Bulletheads.

get an impact style universal joint, great for getting those weird angles... dont try to use one of the chrome ones on an impact gun, they have a tendancy to explode, gotta love lifetime warranty tools

Thanks for the tips guys. I tried getting the pulley off again by putting the tranny in 5th gear. It solved the problem of all the pullies spinning, but now just the alt would spin. So we tried using a pair of plyers to hold one of the fins on the alt while i tried to loosen the bolt, but we just bent one of the fins, lol. Ah well, no biggie. A new alt is in order eventually anyway. I will try some of the things you guys suggested.

Thanks again :)
