im having charging issues but im hopeing a 130amp will solve it. still have not ordered it but its at the top of this list as far as the next thing i get. gotta make some more dough. my comission check was not as big as the last one so i kinda have to budget but i should have it within the month. if you can get the alt go for it. i would say they are worth it if you go that route as it was suggested to me.
Charging issues usually occur at idle with U/D pulleys. Mine would show a drop in voltage at stop lights below 900rpm. I just put the original pulley back on for the alternator and now I never have a drop in voltage at idle. The real benefit of U/D pulleys is from the waterpump and crank pulleys. From what others have said changing to a higher amp output alternator is not going to help at idle with the U/D pulley installed. Reasoning for this is the rpm at idle is still to low to start charging with the U/D pulley.

now that i read your post and though about it my voltage at idle is fine with the u/d. my problem is when i have my a/c on at idle, or trying to start the car with the a/c on. if i start my car with the a/c on it surges and dies. otherwise its not that bad. i start the car with the a/c off and then turn it on with no problems and i am living with the slight drop at the light. i get a slight drop in voltage with the a/c only when the a/c is on. will the bigger amp alt help in my situation?
Seems like it could help on initial startup to have a higher output alternator. I think this because they put out more amps at lower rpms than the stocker.
But, the real question is at what rpm does the higher output alternator start charging? If it is below your idle rpm with the u/d pulley then you will still see a drop in voltage at stoplights. But, if it does put out more amps at lower rpms then maybe it will solve the u/d idle charging problem.
Still waiting on my alternator to die so I can see if this is the case. Maybe you could be the test case? If it works or not let us know
