Im looking to get some U/D pullies for my 97,but Im a bit confused.I can get Mac for 100.00,BBK for around 140.00 and Steeda for around 190.00.I know everyone here hates Mac,but is there that much of a difference in performance and/or quality?

Also how hard are these to install?

if your wanting to spend some dough tho, and you got a auto, you could get the march pullie/dampner set for 180. you'd just have to make sure you retourque the crank bolts correctly tho, cause if that bad boy wobbles, or fly's off, your gonna have some damage on your hands.
the dampner will help hold up the rpms duinrg shifts, and settel down internal engine vibration.

I believe the mac ud pullies are piggyback style. I know the steeda pullies are SFI approved and I dont think the others are.

Steeda's for $190? I know they sell for that much on some sights but recently (I just checked this morning) I have seen them on www.thunderboltmotorsports.com for $149.99 and that may be with free shipping.
As for the general consensus, I think a lot of people will say they would go with (or have gone with) Steeda. If I were to get a set, Steeda would be the way to go for me.

Generally the ones that replace the crank and not piggyback it are better...Steeda and ASP both make these. I believe Mac's are piggyback-style.

Doesnt matter which ones you get, just don't get the piggyback design pullies. Make sure the crank pully has a balancer

wow....This guy is going to hate you when he cracks his oil pump gears...

Only SHM and Steeda have a clean track record and actually properly tune the damper material to cancel the harmonics that will destroy an oil pump, or best case cause you to rebuild the engine sooner.

Sure, a lot of people run other brands and they are fine, but long term the harmonics cause some issues.

Steeda raised their prices back in January to the current pricing as there was a change in that damper tuning to dial it in better and the nub design was changed to be more hubcentric. Most resellers don't know anything about this, but it's good to ask when they got their parts in stock so you don't get the outdated design that's been on their shelves for a while. Visually, there is no way to tell them apart.

Wow!!!Thats alot of info,thanks everyone.

I mean is this something thats even worth doing? Are the gains worth it?If I go with the Steedas it sounds like it might be a difficult install.Would that be true?

I just put the steeda's on my '99 and have no complaints. I wouldn't go with any other brand, though. I believe they are just as "worth it" as any other bolt on mod. I was scared of them for a while, but I have friends that have run steeda's for 50k miles with no issues so I finally gave in. Glad I did.
