Newbie With Pics.....

Newbie here..... I have a 03 Cobra, wife has a 67 coupe... Anyway, just finished a couple new add ons, but decided to go with some newer style wheels. They are Bullitt wheels with 18x9 and 275 35s up front and 18x10 and 295 35s out back. Question is, I had to do quite a bit of modding to get the fronts to fit, want to make sure I didn't compromise anything.

Because of the backspacing, I had to grind some of the UCA off. I dont think it hurt the UCA at all as there is alot of material remaining, but wonder if anyone else has done this? Was thinking of going with a TC coilover setup up front but they could not tell me if it would clear their UCA up front or not.... It's alot of money to just experiment with....lol Here are a couple crappy pics BTW....

Welcome. That's an awesome '67. I don't think I've ever seen that wide a tire in stock wheelwells. "Your wife's car," eh? Quite a wife, making you put that Shelby hood and the 4 wheel discs on there, and making you junk the 215/70-14's.

It's kind of hard to answer whether the clearancing you performed on your UCA's is safe without seeing it. I can only respond that many people running 17's and 18's do grind the hump that houses the upper ball joint, with no ill effects. Is that what you did?

Yep, that's what I had to do.... I would love an excuse to upgrade to coilovers, but had no gurantees they would work.

LOL, she bought it with most the stuff done already. TC rack and pinion, 5.0 crate motor with Vortech S/C, Tremec 5 speed, 9 inch locker among other things...

Lman was being sarcastic, trying to "burn" you as Kalso from That 70's Show says when someone is slighted. You will find there is quite a divide here between those that like and dislike Eleanor clones. Personally, I like certain aspects (more subtle ones) of the Eleanors, like the tail lights, than say, the paint scheme. However, seeing car after car painted silver with black stripes on the computer monitor is one thing, actually seeing one on the street is another. I have yet to see one around here, and there are a LOT of mustangs in my area.

AHHA, it's all good. Since Eleanor wasn't a coupe, I'll take it as a compliment then...If not, I will hopefully still be able to sleep at night....

Well I have always said the 16” wheels are the largest I would ever consider putting on a 68 or earlier. Now after seeing your car I cant believe that those are 18” because I love the way they look. Gee thanks man now I have something else to spent my money on.

You may have a bit of problem with the rear wheelhouse rubbing IMO. What size wheel spacers did you use on front and back? Is the rear housing stock width? With that wide of tire on the front, you probably have a reduced turning radius before the tires start rubbing up front.

What's amazing is, there are no spacers anywhere. I have about 3/8 inches of room in the rear, never expect it to be a problem. The front is pretty tight though. I can actually turn the wheel both ways, all the way without any rubbing.

Maybe the 9 inch rear is a little wider than the stock config? Not sure....

Wow, you're running 9 and 10 inch rims and no spacers. Most people have to run a minimum of 2 inch spacers when you get that wide of a tire due to the high backspacing of the bullit style rims. Any idea what kind of backspacing the front and rear rims are? Most i've seen are 6 and 7 inch backspacing and i'd be rubbing my wheelhouses bigtime without any spacers

6.11 in the front and 6.29 in the back. Really, no prob at all in the rear... The front is definately a little close for comfort though....

The rears rub on occasion but it's the fender itself, not the wheelhouse. It has adjustable shocks all the way around on their loosest setting... I need to make them a little firmer and then I think I wont have any fender rubs..

LOL, it just sits when it's crappy out.... I don't drive my car either from Oct to Apr.... Man, I need some good weather! I miss that 750 hp....lol

Are the BS measurements what the wheel manufacture states or did you measure them?
