I noticed a huge gash on my TFS intake manifold after taking it out of the box. I thought it was damaged until I saw these images on the 50resto.com website.

Were these gashes really created on purpose?

Definitely one of those half-ass afterthought engineering solutions to an overlooked detail. I don't know why they haven't just changed their casting to include clearance there for the fuel rails, or at least make the cut out more presentable. Mine actually had a little bit of a sharp edge on it that I smoothed out with a file, so look out for that.

Otherwise, TFS intakes are pretty decent quality.

Unless you plan on keeping your engine show quality, likely dirt, grease, rubber from the belt and road grime will make it less pronounced over time.

Yeah I'm not too worried about it. It is just something that makes me wonder who made that decision at TFS... I wouldn't want my name on that project if I worked there lol

I have the street heat as well but like I said it is not so pronounced and if I remember correctly it only has the notch on the front not on the corner. Maybe just due to a different milling process. The only problem I had was I had to run a spacer in order to clear my adjustable fuel pressure regulator which cleared the stock intake just fine.

jeez..they could at least made some neat cuts instead of what of looks like hacked up wizzer wheel cuts.

why's everybody acting like its a huge deal? it gets covered up by the line (especially once you put the corrugated tube over it to protect it, like youre supposed to), and by the distributor. once its in the car and all put together, you'll never see it.

its just the principle..you pay good money for these parts and to see if half assed just isnt right.
