Uh-Oh, time to get inspected

I just recently bought my '95 Stang which did not have catalytic converters(headers and flowmasters only). When I took the car to get it inspected, they would not pass it because it failed the visual part of the inspection.:( So I had them install the cats and they passed the car. Now I miss the rumble of the headers and mufflers only set-up. Any suggestions as to how to pass the inspection next year but without the restrictive cats?

I don't know how it is in your area, but New Jersey has some pretty strick emmisions. That is why for the past 7 years I have bought my inspections. I go to the mom and pop inspections who are state certified, and I pay like $100 for one. Small price to pay to keep the o/r x or h-pipe.:nice:

If it's just visual, couldn't you weld the outside part of the cats on, and make it LOOK like you have cats???

just a thought

n, i know guys that have punch out the inside of the cats they said, or ran a tube through the inside so it's straight through... dunno if you can or if the were bs'n which is possible, but it's a thought too

I see you're in eastern NC. The "visual" is all you have to worry about. I paid $12 for my inspection last month. They didn't even look at any of the emissions stuff. I can think of about 5 other shops that would do the same. Just find someone that doesn't really care.

All of us on there are from NC/SC. Ask that question on there .... and I bet someone in the east can find you a place that will cut you some slack.
