i think i broke something but i dont know what! but when i go WOT i can hear a very loud chattering and it only happens when flooring or WOT. any ideas of where to start its metal hitting metal but in a chattering sound.

also i but in a ford racing clutch quad and my pedal is lose if you tap it it (not enguaging it) just tapping it, is this normal???

your most likely hearing detonation - switch to a higher octane gas and see if it goes away. If yoiu run an engine in detonation long enough, yoiu WILL break something.

That's definitely possible.

Have you checked the timing to see where it's set at? Don't forget to remove the spout connector first.

Check the above things, some more detailed description would help alot. If it sounds like theres a midget under your lower intake with a hammer under WOT it's most likely your lifters going out....thats what was wrong with mine anyway and what it sounded like

it sounds like in between the trans and motor its a 5spd

Did the noise start at the same time you installed the clutch quadrant?

Did the noise start after you did anything in specific, or did it just show up out of the blue one day for no reason?

Check the plate that goes between the tranny and the engine..

well before i instaled the quad

after i put marvel mysterie oil in

notice motor mounts are shot

and then piece of metal (sheield) on the cats are broken off

by the way how can i fix my starter it sounds like its binding up

check your timing.. if it sounds like its binding up, and your having detonation.. it could definately be timing

dude you gotta be more detailed when you ask questions on here. Im not trying to be a dick...but we need more specifics. Secondly a chattering metal on metal sound thats comming from between the trans and motor does not make me think detonation?!?! Detonation sounds like a couple pennies bouncing around in a tin can and should be comming from the motor only. Sounds like a clutch issue...perhaps a throw out bearing or too much slack in the cable? Does it happen at a specific rpm or anytime at WOT? When the car is cold or hot...or anywhere in between? Every gear? Give as much info as possible and we can try to point you in the right direction. Also if the motor mounts are shot that may mean that the motor is not sitting in the correct position in the car which could be causing some of your problems. Rip that heat shield off the car or weld it back on...but do something to eliminate that as a possible cause for the rattle. let us know and good luck

so i figured part of it out lol

so i figured out the noise it was a header bolt that backed out and fell in between the the header tubes!!!!!!

but not im trying to figure out how to make my started not sound so bad its brand new, and the cloud of white smoke i get when i gas it hard along with the strong smell of un burnt fuel.
