it does have a 2.3? now i know they probably have nothing in common, or at least very little, but i have an 04 focus with a 2.3L and i dont know what do to it first? i was thinking intake and exhaust(magnaflow kit for 330) but what else do i get? im pretty new to moddifing a 4cyl motor so im not really sure what would work best on it.

if you guys could help me, that be awesome. i went to some focus forums, but half of them dont know what their talking about, and i know you guys do

Well, if it's like any other 4 cylinder car these days, bolt ons won't do a whole hell of a lot. I'm not real familiar with Foci but I figure you could try out the standard header, exhaust, intake, underdrive pulleys, etc on it. I wouldn't expect too much from all that though...my brother has some sport compact car mags where they would put a header and full exhaust on a Honda and get 2 hp. I don't know if the focus is the same but it wouldn't surprise me.

i was hoping to try to get up to 200 horsepower without a turbo, but i guess that is a bit extream to hope for.

You could, but it would require more than just bolt-ons.

they share absolutely nothing with the old 2.3 we are working with, except for the size in liters. but yeah, start with the basic intake and exhaust stuff...there is at least one big focus site on the net, try searching for it

It's the 2.3 Duratec, it has nothing in common with the 2.3 Lima.

Want speed? Either turbo it, engine swap (2.5L SVT Contour) they make nice 351W kits too , or drop it out of a plane.

Yup, pretty much. I know some guys that have Foci (yes I call them Foci to), and they have some cheap turbo kits out there. only a couple grand. and in different stages. Nice thing about the foci market is that it is kinda like the mustang 5.0 market. there is lots of it out there and many choices. Most companys that deal with 5.0's will have a line of Foci stuff also.

For the most part Bolt on's wont do to much because everything on that motor is well tuned. I would start with an exausht and intake. you know get rid of some of that luxury stuff to make the ride smooth and quite. then I would move to a cam. fromm what I remember the ford headers were designed pretty good.

I almost bought a zx3 twice. Price of hop up parts held me back (would of had to change bumpers, and everything)..

have fun.

i ordered a magnaflow exhaust kit for $330, and im about to order an intake. then they have this SVT suspension kit for $215, i think im going to go for that too because its cheap and it would at least make me handle like an SVT focus. thanks for all the input so far here guys.

Nitrous. My buddy's brother-in-law put a nitrous kit on his Focus and it pulled pretty good with only a 45hp jet. The kit came with jets up to 100hp, but I never rode in it after that.

Your Focus a 3 or 5 door? Or worse, a sedan? I think they look best as a 3-door.

yeah, its the sedan. i didnt like the looks of it at first either, but this one has the upgraded stereo stuff, plus it was a stick, and it was the only one i could find with the bigger motor, 2.3 vs. 2.0.
