Well i set out today to break into the 14's because i knew i wasn't gonna do so well with 245 street tires....boy was i wrong!!! First pass i launch at 2 grand slipping the clutch and get very little spin resulting in a 1.99 60' time...i hit all the shifts perfect at 5300, and when i got my timeslip i almost **** myself!!! With just exhaust and a CAI for power mods, i ran 14.25@95!!! I'm still in shock

2nd pass I didn't slip the clutch enough and lit the tires up in 1st gear, with a 2.25 60' resulting in a 15.09@94...

3rd pass was the first round of eliminations and i dialed a 14.60 to be safe... I tried babying it outta the hole a lil bit and i didn't really slip, but i also didn't get a good jump outta the box which came out to a 14.68@95 with a 2.26 60'..

This doesn't even begin to scratch the surface of my day! Not only was that the first time i ever raced my car, but it was the first time my dad has ever driven the Nova also...in his 9 years of drag racing the chevelle, he has never made it past the 3rd round of eliminations....tonight, he made it to the FINAL!
Unfortunately, he red lit, and the race was over, but he cut a best time of the day at 10.25@130

Sorry for this being so long, but i'm very excited!!:SNSign: I'll post pics up tomorrow

Stick with the DR to help the drivetrain out if not you may snap something...

You would actually be fine with slicks. Put 25-30 psi in them, no burnout, and they will grip just like drag radials, except you won't have to heat the crap out of them to grip which = A LOT longer tire life with slicks. I been through this with one of my friends who was scared to break his tranny/rear. Gave him my slicks, 25psi, no burnout, and he spun a good amount off the line. Needless to say we ended up dropping the pressure a little at a time and a small burnout gave him the traction/tire slip he needed to keep from breaking parts.

Just my .02
