Underdrive Pulleys

i got the pypes exhaust installed... it sounds great...

now i am about to tackle the pulleys. on the directions, it states needing a harmonic balancer tri-bolt tool... yada yada yada... but i have seen plenty of videos on youtube where they didnt use one....

can anyone give me a quick walk through?
