underdrive pullies

i want to get pullies for my car, but i don't know what brands are good. I was wondering what kind everyone reccomends

I have the BBK Aluminum ones.

I don't really see how it can differ from brand to brand but have heard Steeda and March. Didn't have them at Jeg's, that is why i went with BBK.

Be prepared for dimming lights and volts to go .

But it's worth it.

im going with ASP...ive heard those are pretty much the best...but March makes good pulleys, and i think Steeda makes some for our cars...ive heard to stay away from MAC....not fimiliar with the BBK pulleys though....

Aren't they basically all the same size?

The only difference i could see possible would be from steel to aluminum...

i got the frpp aluminum u/d pulleys, car felt a little stronger throughout the powerband once i got em on... u can probably pick up a used set on ebay for cheap

I HIGHLY recommend the aluminum ASP pulleys. They are available in colors and they dropped me from a 14.96 at 91mph to a 14.6 at 94.89!!!

There isnt a "better" pulley really. Basically all that matters is steel (cheaper) or aluminum (lighter) and color choice. Basically you are paying for a name brand with these so i'd say buy the cheapest set. Look for a used set even.

Good rule of thumb to stay way from anything that MAC makes ( there exhaust is decent ). To bad you didnt post this a few wks ago, I had a set of UD pullies for sale on Ebay that I would have sold to you. They were steel but they worked great.

I use ASP aluminum ones. It's amazing how heavy the stockers are. All three of the ASP ones weigh less than the stock water pump pulley.

What's the deal with the aluminum pullies? Do they spin/rev the engine faster from the lighter weight for more power and less headlight dim?

Theortically they are supposed to do just that. The weight factor is very negligable compared to the underdriven factor however. The effect of drag created by the belt and accessories more than outweighs any advantage from less rotational weight of a pulley. And plus, lighter rotational weight may accelerate quicker but greater rotational weight will have a longer momentum thus theortically create more top end in a similar fashion if you want to use that arguement. More than anything its just for overall weight savings if you are into getting rid of every ounce that you can on your car and again, its not much...a pound or two maybe.

Are there any potential problems with having underdrive pullies on? I heard from some people that the engine temp increaes and you need a cooling fan(i think thats what its called, its used to cool the engine down) Is there any truth to this? Any pros/cons?

lol...I would hope you'd need a cooling fan. Pulleys by design take some of the power used to pump coolant and create electricity for your car in the name of providing that power to the wheels instead. Thats what they do. So yes, you may run a bit warmer and your lights may flicker. This does NOT mean that you will overheat or that your car will die.

we already have fans. i got a high power alternator to compensate for the voltage drop. yes, the engine does heat up a little more due to it spinning faster. that is a good excuse to get a 180* thermostat

i have a set up brand new polished aluminum bbk pulleys sitting under my desk. i'll sell them at cost ($135) and throw in the shipping.

i ended up getting 2 because the first order was taking too long to arrive.
