Unhappy, HDX total crap

Bought a Ram HDX clutch from LMRS, Installed waited approx 600 miles to romp on it and whadya know it slips .. So i've already gotten over the fact that im going to have to do the clutch again ( And yes everything was perfect, as far as install goes ) So I figured i'd just step my game up and go with a spec clutch ( Since its 100% kevlar ).. So I called 50resto and explained to them my situation, however they will not refund me unless I go with the same clutch. I will end up doing it again, and end up in the same situation. So i asked if they had kevlar clutches, the person i spoke with explained to me that everything is organic because its man made... Soo, i said okay. So end result even if i take the clutch out and go with another one im going to have to pay out of pocket, because i refuse to go with another ram clutch.

And no, i wasnt running drag radials, i didnt do any brake stands, and i didnt pack the pilot bearing with excessive amounts of grease. No launching etc

Yes their was freeplay in the pedal, yes the flywheel was clean with no oil or packing oil.

This post is not in any way directed to lmrs, they have been more then helpfull with my 91. But why now after all of the money I have invested with the company?

Have them exhange it for a new clutch and then sell the one they give you (still packaged) and get your new spec clutch.

Check your clutch cable, and is your rear main seal leaking? If the clutch is brand new there is no reason it should be slipping, i'd play with the adjustment on the cable before you go pulling the transmission

already did, no leaks clutch cable is adjusted prefectly

I fiddled with the adjustment as much as possible. to the point where it was releasing off the floor.

If the problem is a manufacturer's defect, LMR doesn't owe you anything.

My hdx grabs just fine
my clutch cable needs adjusted really bad though, I'd check everything else before you swap clutches again

Ive driven cars, including myne where the clutch pedal feels perfect, and its out of adjustment and the clutch is still slipping, get a good cable and try again, clutch cable is easier/cheaper then pulling the trans.

Also, next time, dont bother "breaking in" a clutch, ive never done that 500 mile BS and never had a problem, drive it nice for a few heat cycles and let the punishment begin.

Also, what conditions is the clutch slipping and how bad is it? What happens if you put it in 5th gear at about 2000rpms and put it to the wood

FWIW, i gave mine about 150 miles of break in and then started abusing it. I dont drive my car enough to give it the 1000 mile break in it recommends...break-in is overrated

said it was clean of packing oil so i assume it was new

The cable is adjustable, so i couldnt see a problem with it. After i adjust it and leave barely any pressure on the fork it still will slip.

If i step on it in 2nd it'll slip and rev up, 5th gear is a terror.

You could have gotten a bad pressure plate. I don't think it is a problem with the clutch material.

This is a definite posibility too, and if latemodel is gonna replace it for free i'd jump on that. if the clutch is actually the problem

Well its gonna take a while, because the clutch has to go back to ram. So latemodel wont be giving me anything. But who blames them . Its not like they MADE the part.
