Ok the time for me to start my trek across country to Cali is drawing nigh and now I'm seriously getting worried that the clicking noise from the engine is gonna cause a problem 1000 miles into my trip and I'll be stranded on the road somewhere around BF Egypt. When I accelerate the clicking gets faster so I'm thinking a lifter may be stuck. Car is running pretty rich so it's a possiblity the timing maybe be advanced too far or something so maybe it's causing a knock. If it is in fact a lifter do they make anything that can be added to the engine oil to rid it or do I need to get the lifters replaced? Any help would be appreciated guys.

Thanks in advance. :nice:

Try running Marvel Mystery Oil it’s a thin tranny like oil that has cleaning detergent in to help clean up the in sides. You may want to take a look at you spark plug wires( maybe at night to see if their is a light show) one may be loose this happened to me, and the engine didn't hesitate at all nothing to give me any indication that a plug wire was loose and loosing spark.

Thanks for the idea man. Guess I should start simple and before i go rip-roaring into the engine. I'll check the spark first, see what kind of additives I can add to my engine oil, check my timing, and then think about the lifters. Hopefully it's nothing internal because I don't have but a week left and I'd hate to have the car torn apart and me not have the problem solved still and be delayed for my trip. Once again thanks :nice:

One of your rockers may be out of adjustment. That only requires removing the VC's. But that clicking you speak of could be a busted lifter/pushrod/rocker or even a connecting rod. :( Hopefully not though.

Good luck. I don't think changing the engine oil will help but it's cheap & easy.

Yeah this thing has been going on longer than wanted and i've changed the engine oil several times with differnent additives and it's still there. I'll try the marvel mystery oil and then I'll go from there on foresaid list of things to check. Thanks for the suggestions! :)
