"unofficial" 2010 NCAA Football thread

Oh yeah OHIO STATE #1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 You mean during the last week, before they lost to Wisconsin? Weird you would post this today....

In other news, I am totally disappointed in UF this year, and have to admit that they just flat out suck. They're not a terrible team, but with the talent they have, they are horrible. Coaching is the issue, and that needs to change, and soon!

The SEC has been one weird arse conference this year. I am not sure what to think until it's all over with. I think this year could be the messed up year where a BS team plays in the championship game (Boise State anyone?) and then gets blown out, and a playoff is actually considered. At least I sure hope so!

Weird to think UF could still play in the SEC championship game, but I doubt they make it the way they're playing. I'm guessing it's either AU or UA vs USCe in the SEC champ game. We'll see how it plays out.....

Hey...post up your teams rivalries. I know there are the obvious such as Michigan/Ohio St and Texas/Oklahoma. I'm interested in seeing the games you guys circle each year.

Wish I would have seen this before Saturday so it doesn't seem so predictable, but Wisconsin is a game that is always tough for us and has some extra juice to it. When Barry Alvarez retired from coaching, he was the only coach in the Big 10 to have a winning record against Tress. They were the team I was most worried about for this year, and my fears were proven justified :(The other team that sticks out is Illinois. They're not a big rival per se, but that game usually plays tighter than the schedules/rankings would suggest and it usually get's a little chippy. Illinois is also the only game we play that has a trophy. It's called the IlliBuck and it's a wood turtle carving. Back in the day when the tradition started, it was an actual living turtle that the winner kept for the year following the game.

I guess a turtle is better than this hideous thing we have in "the boot" that goes to the winner of the LSU/Arkansas game.

They try to make Arkansas a rival but they are Johnny come latelys to the SEC. It will never be the game like Auburn or Ole Miss.

here's what I hate about college football. In the end, the BCS title is what counts. If that's so, then why do so many media outlets refer to Oregon as #1 when they are ONLY #1 IN A POLL?

that's like saying that Bush should not have been referred to as President because Gore was more popular in the polls. That makes no sense.

Not only that, but Oregon received 44 1st place votes, while Auburn only got 3. Boise State received 11?? Seriously? In the SEC West, there are 6 teams, all are ranked except 1. The SEC is it's own worse enemy.

I guess that's why I just don't take college football serious. W/O a playoff, there's no true champion IMO.

Well, except maybe last year... Bama would have beat any team last year.

Kraw...the polls are for the fans. Doesn't matter who is where until the final day of the season. I agree with you that we need a playoff. That is the only fair way to get to a true champion.

Cam Newton for Auburn is the real deal. That dude is a beast.

Yea I want Boise to win it all ONLY to make people force a playoff system

are you serious? You would rather see the same 10 teams compete for the title when there are over 100 teams in the division (whatever it's called now, is it FBS?.. used to be 1A)

I like the bowl game system. It keeps most conferences in there except the really ****ty ones and will force the really ****ty conferences to actually step up their play and get into a real one.

I'm afraid that I will never see a playoff system in my lifetime. The haves will simply not let the have-nots come and steal their money. Plus, why would SEC teams want to play some no-AQ school and get their asses handed to them? ie, this

2009 Sugar Bowl

This years Ute team looks even better than that team:nice:

The playoffs could incorporate the existing bowls.

Eight teams in 4 games utilize the current bowls in place. First round: Orange, Cotton, Gator and Fiesta. Semi finals: Sugar and Rose. Each season they would rotate among those with two new semi final sites.. Then the finals would rotate among each location like they do now. Of course it would be a money thing with the bowls with the deepest pockets getting the games. This is just an example.

Pretty happy to see FSU get pwned. I don't hate them cause they're my rival, I just hate them cause their fans are douches!

Plus, having Russell Wilson on my fantasy team got me pulling pretty hard for the wolfpack!

Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer DOWN GOES ALABAMA!!!!!

Our coach is weird but he beat the great Satan!!!

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -- As Les Miles' latest stab at fourth-down trickery was about to unfold, the LSU coach bent down, ******ed up some blades of grass - and ate them.
"I have a little tradition that humbles me as a man, that lets me know that I'm a part of the field and part of the game," Miles said as a smile widened on his face. "You should have seen some games before this. I can tell you one thing: The grass in Tiger Stadium tastes best."
