update on supercharger

Took it off today to mail it back to vortech and there was oil coming out of the turbine and it looked like it was blowing it up the intake.... atleast its under warrenty...i just hope vortech doesnt try to say its my fault because i didnt use the right oil or something.

I had just changed the oil over to mobile 1 5w20 synthetic...

No, they shouldnt. That sucks you had to mail it off to them to get it fixed. You should try to run a conventional motor oil though, it helps with blow by. Over on the MPH boards, they recommend Valvoline 5w30 so thats what I use.

they told me that i should not use synthetic. they probably wont void your warranty because of it though, and even if they do, a total rebuild is only like 300 bucks.

just tell them to rebuild it because its under warranty, and while your add it here is 600 for the T-trim upgrade

That is always the worst. I'm in the same boat right now too, just got the blower and pulleys and crap back on the car...now I gotta rebuild my IRS (bad bearings throughout haha)... Name of the game and luck of the draw I guess!

Don't worry though, it'll feel good when Vortech gets it back to you and ya start her up again

If you have the pcv valve hooked to your inlet your always going to see a little oil in there.

Got mine back from Vortech tuesday for a seal and bearings change under warranty.

They didnt ask anything and just did the job. That blower had 1500 miles on it when i took it off the car for the repair

Yeah but not like what happens when it blows, its just totally saturated.

That also happens when your rings are shot. I hope he gets it fixed.

Hey don't feel bad after a kick ass tune and my car running the best it ever did I got to drive my car 46miles until I wrecked it and it was down for like 2 months

Its always worth the wait in the end though.

So do the bearing have anything to do with the oil leak? Or is that just the seals?

Its hard to beleive the bearings would wear out so quickly!

Bad batch from Vortech or their bearing supplier - I've seen at least 5 cars with this in Indy the past couple months. And yeah, the seals and the bearings are related, heh.... blow one and the other is sure to go (blown seal and the bearing will go bad from lack of oil, blown bearing and it will heat up or physically blow the seal).

That would explain why my seal went away 750 miles before the bearing.
