Upgrading speakers

Hey Golden, do a few searches here there has been some posts recently.

I can say the JBL GTO speakers I installed sound fantastic and I am a fan of the Polk sound as well, they are just completely imossible to find around here for some reason.

Anyways installation is pretty easy. The convertible is incredibly easy to do, just takes a little time. I've had a coupe and a convertible apart to the speakers now and could probably do the swap in about an hour and a half talking my time.

As luck may have it Crutchfields sample install instructions are for a 05+ Mustang, you can get the instructions here...

Good luck!

Personally I would upgrade the head unit first. You'll be amazed at how much better the sound is. Speakers is not the weakest link.

Agree 100%. My order of importance would be:
  • Head unit
  • Sound deadening
  • replacement high-range speakers
  • sub/amp combo
  • amp for highs

I don't know, my straight speaker upgrade made a huge difference. My neighbor was over lending a spare set of hands when I was doing the front door swap and he noticed the difference right away.

The head unit may not be the best, but just changing the stock speakers is a fairly low cost low hassle way of improving the sound.
