2 years ago I redid my entire rear end. New shocks, control arms, springs, & bushings. I took out my rear end to do my upper C A bushings, I took them out & used the old shells but when I put my rear end back in my passenger rear tire stuck out about in inch from the lip of the fender (I'm running 18x9 wheels), drivers side rear was tucked in. Fast forward 2 years I decided it was time to fix my rear seen as I got my engine done & I want to paint so I pulled my rear end out again & noticed my shells for the bushings didn't look like they were in all the way. Can anyone tell me if the lip of these shells need to be touching the axle housing or are they fine the way they are? Here are some pics.

Seat it all the way against the housing.

It just talks about the removal of the bushing itself. I want to know about the shell, does the shell have to be pushed all the way to the axle housing?

Your install looks fine. The bushings only go on to the center point like how you did it.
