I just finished the UPR auto shift knob with the aod button holder. It looks real slick just like their picture. It's rougly 30 minutes to install and not too too dificult.
Tools used:
2.0 mm allen driver
3/32" allen driver
T20 Torx driver
small flat blade screw driver
needle nose pliers
wire cutters (small)
magic marker
carpet knife with sharp fresh blade
Directions:
1. Be carefull and don't rush
2. Pull E-brake, and move shifter all the way to 1st gear (with car off obviously)
3. Remove shifter bezel trim with your hands and disconnect the 12V source
4. insert 2 mm allen driver into set screw on stock shifter handle and back it out until you see the screw head
5. Use extreme caution when removing the handle as the OD button wires are thin and there is little slack. Pull in an upward motion until the handle comes off. The knob will hang off the end of the shaft.
6. Remove the 2 T20 torx screws on the left side of the indicator plate
7. Pull the plate up and be carefull not to drop the screws, rotate the plate 90 degrees and unplug the light socket.
8. The OD button connector is on the right side towards the back. The lamp socket wires and the button wires will be taped together. Cut the tape off carfully. The OD button cable will also be held in place by a tie wrap around the shifter shaft. You'll need to cut that as well and remove it. Disconnect the OD button cable. It is a tough one so take your time and don't yank it. I held the connector with pliers and worked the male end loose with a flat screw driver.
9. The cable, shaft cover, handle, and plate will now come off. Place the upr button holder on the shaft and insert the set screw using the 3/32" allen driver. Place the shifter knob on as well and secure both in place. Make a mark with a marker at the base of the button holder.
10. Remove knob and button holder. Trim 1-2 inches off the top of the shaft cover. The wider opening is the top. Slid the cover over the shaft and check to see if the top comes to your mark. Trim until you are even with your mark. Remove cover.
11. Remover OD button from stock shifer knob by working the flat blade screw driver around the seam. It will come out and the connector will pull through the knob. Insert the button into the upr button holder.
12. Thread cable through the shaft cover, and shifter plate. Slide plate, shaft cover, and buttom holder onto the shaft. The OD button faces foward.
13. Route and connect OD buttom cable. Also re-insert lamp socket. Rotate shifter plate into position and secure the 2 T20 Torx screws. Alight shaft cover and button holder and secure the 3/32" allen scew.
14. Reconnect 12 Volt source on shifter bezel and then snap the bezel into place.
15. Slide UPR shifter knob onto the shaft and secure it with the 3/32" allen screw.
Your done.... Check shifter movement and take it for a spin. Check the OD functionality as well while driving to make shure it works.
