i decided to post this up, since upr has f'd up my order two of two times. to top it off the products are GARBAGE as well.

i purchased a upr smog dummy pulley and ac dummy pulley for my supercharged setup about 45 days apart. they were both purchased NEW. the smog dummy pulley had a total of 513 miles on it when my attempt to bypass a/c dummy pulley ended. thus, i ordered the second delete kit from them.

upon installing the a/c bracket and dummy pulley, the belt did not line up on the tensioner or a/c pulley as it came off the smog pulley. i figured this was just the bracket needing adjustment. so i purchased a new idler for my tensioner that was wider and the belt stayed on it, and then i shimmed the bracket backwards so it was inline. everything seemed good so i started the car.

instantly i'm getting a loud squeaking noise, loud enough to hear with my vortech. long story short, the bearing in the smog pulley was so worn out, it was wobbling and thus throwing the belt alignment off 2 ribs of movement. so i go out and track down a new bearing, replace it for the smog pos, and there is still over 1/8" of wobble to the pulley.

there is play between the bushing/bolt they use and the bearing. i mic'd out the bearings, there all the same. so this is a failure in their tolerances, stuff happens.. i make it work with as little wobble as i can possibly get. put it all back together, take shims out of the a/c bracket, start the car.. squeak squeak STILL.

this time, it's coming from the NEW a/c dummy pulley. i spray some pb blaster on it, noise stops for 30 seconds. then it starts again. so off to the store again, another $15 bearing to replace their garbage. there is still unacceptable slop in BOTH of these, but they don't squeak atleast.

not only did they squeak, but the wobbling is eating my belt. i snapped a new belt about 150 miles after the smog pulley went on. it wore my second belt down a noticeable amount on 3 sections of the ribs. so soon, i will need a THIRD belt.

i emailed upr and explained my tolerance issues, it has been 2 weeks now without a response. they replied to me within 24 hours when i needed to buy this stuff. so thanks upr :chair:

I've seen many a UPR complaint get taken care of quickly if you start yammering over on Corral...Bad press over there blows up in half a minute.

Man, I am a machinist, and nothing pisses me off worse than to give my money to someone for a product that can't hold a tolerence. That is unacceptable.

I had a problem with trw/speedpro stock replacement roller lifters like that once. The o.d. was supposed to be precision ground to within .0001 and the freakin lifters varied from +.000 to -.005! Took me 2 days to figure out why I couldn't keep lifters primed. When I took them back to oh really's every set in the store mic'd the same. Went to melling and never had another problem.

I would definately get my money back from upr....don't buy speedpro junk either.

UPR is CCC - Cheap Chinese Chunk - when you buy it, you chunk your money into their bank account. Before you get the next bank or credit card statement, you have chunked the part in the trash... They rank right up there with MSD (May Suddenly Die) ignition parts.

UPR is a case of you get what you pay for.

See if Reichard Racing can set you up with a double ball bearing idler.
I much prefer the double bearing over the single.

There is a reason MM is expensive... it's a great product.

AMEN!

AMEN as well on the MSD crap!I bought a used (with 10 hours) MSD dizzy when i built my 351 and the module was bad right off the bat...then about 2-3000 miles of track/street used combined the pick up was shot!I'm in the process of switching to crane all the way!

You bet!I started expressing my bad feelings towards ON3 on this turbo kit and they all baash me in return for doing so!

thats f'd up!What about running no idler pullies at all to replace what you have taken off?peace

garbage or not, this stuff should have lasted more then 500 miles. in the case of the a/c pulley, ZERO miles. to send me crap is one thing, but to not reply to me at all? :bs:

i have to run the smog kit with a blower, and i already spent over $200 for 93 cobra wp pulley, v6 ps pulley and a bunch of bullchit trying to avoid the a/c pulley mess. i must run this configuration.

i don't see any chance of a refund being that this stuff is used now. i'm not going to let my car sit there disabled because of their junk product. so i fixed it, lesson learned. i might just machine my own pulleys at work, seems like it would be easier then getting one of these ass hats from upr to fix the problem.

And you're surprised why?

UPR is a company that does nothing but copy other peoples designs and sell a lower quality product at a lower price. UPR actually stands for Uther People's Research.

Here's an interesting bit of reading regarding UPR. I actually bought this guy's last piece and vowed at that time that I would never, EVER buy a product from these lowlifes.
That was pretty good reading.
Glad you posted it.

I have always refused to buy their stuff based on their k members coming apart at the seams, and had always known they stole designs, just didn't know it was ever really documented, now you can see the damage it does to the little guy.

good read..

you edited that in, right when i posted. so i just now saw it. my car has an old school upr k-member and arms on it. i think it might be time to bend over and go with an MM unit.

Why does it always seem like the Corral gets so much attention? That website blows. Too many idiots over there.

Probably because of all the idiots over there :rlaugh:

Squeaky wheels get the grease, and I've seen at least 3 UPR employees in the past couple years sign up to basically be damage control reps.

im only pissed at this point, because i have bearings i cant return after i press them in. now i am stuck spending another $150 all said and done for different brand deletes i guess.
