guys,
I can get a 351 for next to nothing tonight from a friend, or he will be selling it. I only want to take it from him if I can make the swap work in my 65 coupe. SO what parts bolt over from a 289 to a the 351? Also, how hard of a swap is it? What needs to be done?
Mike
P.S i would do a search, but im very tight on time.

the only things you'll really need to make the swap work are brackets and pulleys for the alt. ac and ps. if you're car doesn't have ac or ps even better. the next thing would be exhaust, you'll need swap headers like the ones hedman makes or similar and routing the exhaust. everything else should be a basic bolt in.

The car has no P.S or AC. What about Cleveland vs Winsor? Any huge reason not to go with the swap if its one or the other? What about heads?
ALSO, the engine smokes, so i assume that means a rebuild going .030 over? What would that make the motor? Something like a 358?
Mike

nothing fits a 351 cleveland from a 289. very little fits a 351 windsor from a 289.

you'll be able to find a lot more parts cheaper for a windsor than a cleveland. i personally wouldn't recommend a cleveland for your average person, unless you really WANT a cleveland...

The motor is a 351 winsor out of a 69 cougar. What will it be if its 30 over? It is complete with all accessories. From what I've been finding out is that it will fit in between the towers, but my LT headers may need to be changed out for a set of swap headers.
The engine would be backed by a 4 spd toploader. Will the bellhousing that used to mount to the 289 work with the 351?

P.S=Whats a decent price for a machine shop to put it 30 over, deck it, clean up the crank and rods, and reassemble with some solid pistons? (parts included)

I dont' think a Cleveland will even fit in the smaller 65 shock towers, I Windsor will although tight.
The C will fit, very tightly but it will. Dodgestang has one in his. Search for posts by him if you wanna see pics.

351W bored 30 is a 357, I have a "DSS Pro-Bullet 357" in mine.

All late 289/302/351W shared the same bellhousing bolt pattern.
