Helllo to everyone from the new guy.
I am so glad I found this site.

Here's my story:
Years back I had a '67 coupe, a '68 coupe and my wife had a '67 coupe.
Those cars are now gone for one reason or another.
I've been wanting to locate a 67-68 mustang in decent condition so that I could start a new project.

Well, I found one yesterday that needs TLC. The old car died on the owner about 10yrs ago and he didn't want to fix it. He drug it up a hill and into the woods and left it there. My wife spotted it resting there and I bought if from him.

The car is resting on four flat tires, has good body panels, good shock towers and a good frame. The floor pan is rotting out now but was probably good when he parked it.

NEED ADVICE: How do I get this thing down the hill, out of the trees that have grown around it, through the horse pasture filled with 2"-10" rocks, over a 6" deep by 12" wide drainage washout without ruining everything?

Please help!

a 4x4 with a winch could do wonders for pulling it out, if the landowner is not oposed to it, use a chainsaw to carefully clear trees that will be troublesome.

If possible winch it up onto a trailer, then drive the trailer through the field and hopefully you can approach the wash out at such an angle as to cross it without damaging tow vehicle or trailer.

depends on which part of Oregon you are in. The field will probably still be to mushy if you are on the western side. Your best bet would probably be to find some inflated tires and a 4 wheel drive truck.

Thanks.

What's the bolt pattern?

5bolt by ?

What other rims will fit? Falcon, etc? Any newer rims/tires?

Any ford 5bolt?
where in Oregon are you?

I doubt anything to exotic would be needed. just a 4x4 pickup and a tow strap. With some inflated tires so you dont drag the rust off the bottem of the car.

The car is in the north coast range. I'm near Salem.

While getting rims and tires today, the junk yard guy told me that most 6cyl had the 4bolt pattern. True?

I bought two of each (4 & 5bolt). They only had two of the 4bolt.

The hill is kind of rocky so I hope it holds my '95 F350 PSD. The winch is on the '78 truck so no luck there.

He did show me where he took it up but the hill has changed. Wish me luck tonight.

how did it get over the rough terrain....details!!! :nice:

edit: where is the gallery??

Bought the only two 4bolt rims within 60mi. Put those on the front, pulled like heck, broke tow strap, pulled like heck, broke chain, pulled like heck with bigger strap. Got part way down the hill and stopped a little to close to a tree. The car rode high enough to miss the holes and washout.

Came back two days later after rigging a winch to the back of my truck. Winched it out real easy and up onto the trailer. Trailer popped off the ball while car was 99 percent on.
What a sight...trying to push the trailer tongue back down.
