I just noticed that the plastic outlet for coolant that comes out of the passenger side rear intake is broken up where the rubber hose begins.they must of broken it when they removed the motor.can I use the older intake?
I see that the intake gaskets for the two motors have a different part number, hence I assume the intakes differ slightly.

The difference between NPI and PI intakes is more than "slight." Even if you're able to make it fit without vacuum or coolant leaks, don't saddle PI heads with an NPI intake.

Yeah...you are going backwards. Besides even if you can find an older intake it is likely to crack also. Break down and get a PI intake.

I have a PI engine that im in the process of installing, but as stated in the thread, the plastic water outlet is damaged, thats why I was asking about using the intake from my 96.

BTW my 96 intake has the aluminum crossover.

Are you willing to give up a solid 25hp? Because that's what you'll be leaving on the table swapping a pre-PI intake, to your PI engine. Spend the $200 on the proper intake and don't look back. This is not an item you want to start cutting corners and saving pennies with.

Let's forget about the HP for a moment. The intake ports on the PI heads are a larger and a different shape. Putting a Non-PI intake on PI heads will leak.

, why, just why? I'm as thrifty as they come when comes to looking for a deal on car parts, some things are best left as they were built, move forward, this is something you will regret, don't drive unless its your daily and just save for it and do it right!!!

No you can't use a NPI intake on a PI engine. That is a bad idea, do what I did with my aluminum cross NPI find a vic owner that just wants a aluminum crossover and get a PI intake from ford, not doorman.. From FORD

I have a dorman kicking around too. I wonder how bad those flow compared to a ford PI
