What is the concensus on buying a used blower. I have seen some in the classifieds section for about 1200-2200. I have a 95 GT that is pretty stock.
I will have my h pipe and headers done by next week, and already have 4.10 gears, and a transgo kit in my aode.

Its probably not the next logical mod., but the moneys here and it may not be again in the future.

I cant get a new blower, so what do you guys think?

if it blows up, look to pay around 1700 for your new blower from vortech. they give you a 400 dollar core for your blower

i have seen peopel buy/sell/trade/run used blowers all the time. The guy i just met bought his used and it blew up on the dyno.

Make a heavy inquiry into how much boost was ever run and what pulley size.

Unless you know first hand who had it and how they treated it, How old it is, I would not buy used. You have to trust that all the hardware and brackets are there, plus no warranty, and maybe no tech support from the supplier if things go wrong. You can get a base vortech for around 2200 dollars, IMO the extra 1000 is well worth it.

i bought a used kb and it has been fine, but the owner had just had it rebuilt. but i haven't had it on long enough to be able to say how well it withstand the test of time.

just realise that if it is just the blower, then the expense is actually higher, because you will also need other supporting things, like injectors, fuel pump, tuning, ...

I bought a used blower and ran it for 2 years before it blew the front seal. I ended up selling it for almost the same price I bought it for but with the blown seal. The minor rebuild costs $349 from vortech, and I have heard of people doing it themselves.

Thanx guys, I was thinking about selling and getting a cobra (94-98), but I know I would like a blower better. Besides, my car is paid for and I dont want another payment.
Foerced2dv8, where can I look into the vortech you're talking about?
