I found a good price on a set of used steeda sports.......how good are they compared to sportlines or prokit from eibach for my daily driver?, also will it fit with 17x9 cobra r's? and is there anything to look for buyin used springs(roughly 7k miles)
Don't know about comparisons, but I have Steeda Competition springs and love them. May be too stiff for some, but mine is not a daily driver and changing lanes like a go-kart is COOL! I'm talking NO noticeable body roll- as attested by a buddy in his '03 Cobra behind me.
The drop is optimum for Fox body- you can slam them so low tire fitment and steering are compromised, but Steeda did a good job with theirs. Looks badass when it's closer to the ground than stock. You will need polyurethane upper and lower spring insulators- some have gone without but it increases NVH. For a good installation tech article do a search for MFE's treatise on the subject-much safer than traditional installation and worked great for me.
I have installed both Tokico & Steeda springs on my two cars & have to say I prefer the Steeda's over the Tokico's. I fully agree with 87TTopGT's description of the go-gart like handling & have to say that's what I like best about them. The ride is stiff but who cares, if I wanted plush I'd get a Cadi!
Far as what you need for the install, you should consider replacing your shocks & struts while you have everything disasembled.( not necesary though ) Also, dont forget new isolator's. I run them only on the top, but that's just me... Gives it more of an agressive stance. And that's also what the guy over at Steeda recomended when I bought the springs.
