useing a Dry kit on a 95 5.0

ok so lets see here.

i have allways used wet kits. but recently i sold my ws6 with it's wet kit, and the guy gave his Edlebrok dry kit.....(came with sevral goodies)

But im not to sure on how a dry kit functions.....how does it know how much fuel to mix? :shrug:

People tell me that dry is better for the stock 5.0 intake due to the fact it wont puddle fuel in the 5.0 intake mani. (from what i unserstand the intake likes to get puddles)

But i wanna do this try kit up right so i needs some info on dry kits..and some tips would be nice as well.

There's a vacuum line that goes to your fpr.. you put the correct jet in it for whatever size shot you're running, and it will boost your fuel pressure when the relay is activated. The manufacturer of your nitrous system will tell you what size jets to use.

I won't say dry is better, but for a small shot (under 150) I would definately go with a dry setup. I run a 100 shot with 19# injectors and 190lph fuel pump, even with heads/intake/rockers I've never leaned out.

Where is your nozzle located? I though most dry kit spray before the MAF so the computer can richen up the mixture? I am going to get a nitrous kit soon and have not decided on what kit to go with, wet or dry. Everyone tells me to go wet, but I am afraid of the fuel puddling.

The nozzle should go after the MAF, 4-12" before the throttle body. If you spray nitrous on the MAF wires, you'll freeze them up and possibly ruin them.
 
i gusse im just confused useing only wet systems for so long. was very simple.

nitro/fuel had jets on the "fogger" and each had a seprate solonoidm, and the fuel hooked up to the fuel test port.



Now i gusse i dnt understand how the car is gonna know to mix more fuel. And on top of that how am i gonna know its doing what its supose to :dunno:

Doesn't get much simpler than a dry setup. The fuel pressure is boosted via the fpr vacuum line when you spray. The computer does the rest, adjusting the injector pulse width to get the desired a/f mix. You don't have to do anything but match the proper sized jets.
 
it does sound simple. i think so

this wouldent be so hard..if my manual wasnt for a lt1 lol. so some of the picture are throwing me off.

basicly what i have is a "T" bit

heres how i think it goes.

1# take the Vacum lin off the FPR, and put it on the bottom of the "T"
2# then install another line from the "T" to the FPR
3# with the remaining port on the T Run that to the big brass solononid.?

that about it?

I guess it is only on the ZEX kit, becuase I have never heard of this either. Most of the dry kits I've seen or read about place the nozzle infront of the MAF and use the factory computer to richen up the mixture.

This is how every dry kit I've ever seen/heard of works. Here's a blurb from Holley's (NOS) site..

Types of NOS Systems
An Overview Of Wet, Dry And Direct Port Systems
These are three basic types of nitrous systems: dry, wet, and direct port. The most misunderstood is the "dry" type of system. A "dry" nitrous system simply means that the fuel required to make additional power with nitrous will be introduced through the fuel injectors (remember, fuel makes power, nitrous simply lets you burn more of it). This keeps the upper intake dry of fuel. We accomplish this by two methods. First, is to increase the pressure to the injectors by applying nitrous pressure from the solenoid assembly when the system is activated. This causes an increase in fuel flow just like turning up the pressure on your garden hose from 1/2 to full. The second way we can add the required fuel is to increase the time the fuel injector stays on. This is accomplished by changing what the computer sees, basically tricking the computer into adding the required fuel. In either case, once the fuel has been added, the nitrous can be introduced to burn the supplemental fuel and generate additional power.

Please send me a link to a set of instructions telling you to put the nozzle BEFORE the mas. I've never heard of this.
 
Ok i think i can break this down real fast... I just put nitrous on my car... At first i was running before the mass air .. it lasted for 1 spray then my mass air sensor started acting goofy i guess, and kept stalling my car out when i went to spray. So i put it AFTER and it worked great everytime... Im running 24# inj and a 255 pump. jus put my nozzle line right in the intake and i was done... Its that simple when u r running a sorta small dry shot.

im no expert at all im jus goin by my experince's and what is working for me.

it gets injected into the TB (after the MAF). I didnt feel like drilling into my TB and tapping it out and all so i just punched a hole in my rubber air intake and stuck the injector in.

I have seen it done both ways, I throught it was more common in front of the MAF with a dry kit, guess I was wrong.
