looking for a cheap way to get the 65 up to some more power so it would be a little more fun at the strip. Right now its a mild build 289 with a 4 speed, nothing really fancy or crazy. I was thinking trying to find a used nitrous cheater kit for around 150 horse. What are everyones thoughts and opinions? Basically looking for the cheapest way possible to get some more power to have a little bit of fun with it. It seems like just as long as the car is tuned right and timing is set safe there probably wouldnt be too much of an issue of reliability.

you're right, with the right tune and keeping the juice to a reasonable level reliability is fine, its just when people throw on 200 shot kits and then wondering why their engine breaks it becomes a problem. however, you have to realize that by the time you refill the bottle 40 times, thats the cost of a turbo kit....and turbo power is much more progressive...not a sudden kick like nitrous...might be kinder to engine internals over time

Nitrous is gooood. Ran a 100 shot for about 5 years. Only problem I had was a solenoid started acting up, the fuel of course. But never damaged anything. Lots of fun. Plan on more than 450 bucks for a safe kit though.
