was curious if anyone knew, im kinda gettin the run around from the dyno shop, im runnin the non intercooled s-trim on my 02 gt and when it was on the dyno, it was showin 180 degree intake air temp, i def thought this was high, i know the power cooler will drop it significantly but he was sayin that the intake pipe from vortech is pretty resrictive, it def is and i was lookin at an anderson power pipe, hopefull that'll cool it down i guess. But he said that it was too high and he was affraid to push too much, and he only got 333 hp out of it, i know theres more to it but does anyone know if this sounds right or not...any feedback would be appreciated...thanks!!!

That sounds pretty hot... What plugs were in the motor? Was there a fan in front of the car on the dyno? Where is the IAT sensor located, did they relocated it? Who dyno'd it? What was the outside temp?

I would fab up a air to air set-up before I wasted the money on the Power Cooler. A powerpipe will help with flow and increase boost but I wouldnt expect a huge drop in temp.

with the plugs, they went with a cooler plug i believe fan was in front of the car and the IAT was relocated to the discharge tube like maybe 8 inches in front of the throttle body, and the outside time was like 90 sumthing. It was a shop up in York Pa called McNews Automotive

Thats actually not all that bad believe it or not. My old S trim would give me 170 degree IAT's. Plus at 90+ degrees your IAT's are going to get up there on a non intercooled blower of any kind.

Yea, with my non-intercooled Eaton, IATs will get well over 200 (220+ sometimes) in the summer heat. 170 isn't all that bad at all for a non-intercooled blower.

That being said, getting those IATs down will allow for a LOT more timing, which on a boosted car, will allow for a LOT more power. In the winter when it's nice and cool, I'll advance my timing 1 degree overall and 1 degree from 4000+ rpm, and I've recorded gains of over 3 tenths of a second in the 1/4 mile. That's at least 25 rwhp, just from 2 degrees of timing. Get those IATs down in the low 100s or even sub 100 degrees (either via an intercooler or water/meth injection), throw about 5 or 6 more degrees of timing at it, and you're looking at an easy 50 rwhp.

How much boost are you running? I will assume you still running 6psi which is what I recall the stock non-intercooled kit makes Depending on your supporting mods, I would think 333rwhp is right about where you should be.

Of course, bringing the inlet temps down could make a big difference by allowing you to increase boost, timing, or otherwise make better use of the octane you have. A nice air to air intercooler can do an excellent job and can be quite cost effective. That's what I have on my 2.3. The outlet temps are over 300F, and the inlet something around 120-130F. I'm kinda curious what the temps are after spraying nitrous and accounting for the cooling effect of alky (running E85).

Yes buy the air to air cx racing kit on ebay. It runs about 300 or so and if you know what you are doing you wont have to cut up your crash bar. There was a really good write up on mod fords but they guy erased all his photos. The only downside to it would be that you will most likely need a retune so thats more cash out of your pocket.

I know some people are kind of sketchy about some of the ebay stuff but there are plenty of people running the cx racing kit and making good power with it with low IAT's. One guys I know of made over 700 to the wheels with their 4in intercooler and a novi.
