V3 Install Under Way Finally

Good news! I just got a tracking number for the crank pulley. So, It should be here Thursday of this week so I might get this together sooner than I thought. Still waiting on the injectors as well.

The smog pump idler came in and I'm working on that now. With that I can get the blower and alternator permanently mounted and secure all wiring, tubing and whatnot since portions of that stuff had to be moved from their original positions. The UPR smog pump eliminator appears to be decent quality.

Dammit!!! I broke the vent plug. Luckily the piece came out of the unit easily. Ordered a new one. $45 mistake. I must remember the brass vent plug is fragile.

damn,, you cant find a brass plug that size at NAPA or Home Depot? $45 for a plug.. ouch

It's a specialized vented plug.

You would think so, this happens to be the most commonly misplaced part in all of these kits and I know I don't have one. We have probably ordered a half dozen this year though

It's really a good thing they make the brass vent plug so weak that it easily breaks. One would much rather break the plug in half than strip the threads in the blower housing.

Couple questions while I'm at it;

1) My boost will probably be in the 6-7 psi range on this entry level kit. What should my initial ignition timing be set at? Currently, I'm at 12 BTDC.

2) How do things that are normally under vacuum respond when they now are subjected to pressure? For example, the brake booster, does that have a check valve built in at the brake booster fitting? What about my Kirban FP regulator, is that designed with some type of check valve so it does not get subjected to pressure?

I'm sure the kit instructions would have mentioned these things if they were issues (they didn't) but I would still like to know for my own sake.

I put the SCT chip in. Now I'm on the way to get vacuum line for the PLX module for the boost gauge.

My Kirban reg was fine ran it to 7.5psi . All the vac accsessories were fine . Set fp 42psi vac off . Set Timing at 10btdc

Im under the impression that all chips require the timing set at 10*. Make sure you use the best octane pump gas you can find. The chip you have has already been programmed for your combo correct? What if it needs a tweak? Is this an email tune setup or a local shop/tuner?

Chip was pre-tuned by 84Ttop according to my specific setup. MAF speced and ordered by him as well along with the V3 kit. So, I should be close right off the bat. My wideband will tell me if it's being satisfied with fuel delivery or not. In the event it needs changes, tweaking the fuel pressure will be easy for me. With all that said, I should be able to get it in the sweet spot without the need for pro dyno tuning. If I'm off in my opinion, please correct me.

What's the quickest way to kill electric power to the fuel pump? I want to turn key on and test some things but the injectors are out and I dont want to dump gas everywhere. I already tried putting the old injectors back in the rail but the pressure shot one out.

Pop the inertia switch in the trunk for the pump in case of a roll over .
