I have a 94 cobra that I am overhaulin. I installed a pair of Trick Flow Street Heat heads on my car with 6.75 Trick flow push rods and Sorpion 1.72 rockers. My stock valve covers dont appear to clear the rockers they hit on the studs for the rockers. Has anyone installed taller Valve covers without having to space the intake. I know I can buy a spacer for my intake and install tall valve covers, but I have a vortech S-trim on the car and I dont want to have to modify or replace my inlet tube and lengthen my egr pipe to my header. :bang: Any help would be greatly appreciated asap I planned to install my engine back this weekend so would like to overnite any parts if possible.

LOL, Those Scorpions are BIG aren't they?

I used fox body vc's with mine.

I had to remove a tiny bit of material from a couple of the bosses and the splash guard had to go with my AFR's. I also had to make a little adjustment to the oil fill tube.

Things might be a little different since you run TFS heads.

If you want to go this route you can find lots & lots of threads with the details and some of them even have pics.

Thanks do you know of any aftermarket vc that may work

Are the fox body valve covers a little taller than ours? I really wanted to install the cobra ribbed valve covers from summit but I don't know if they will clear even if I have to modify the baffles I wouldnt mind it is very little space that I need.

The Cobra VC's you are referring to have an oil fill that will not clear the throttle body, in addition to the baffle plate screw bosses interfering with the rockers. I have the same problem, and I am currently trying to find a solution. Tall VC will not clear the lower portions of the upper intake, even with a 1" spacer. Even if I use a spacer, anything larger than 1/2" will cause the TB to hit the strut tower brace. I have to use a 1/2" spacer because of my Aeromotive fuel rails, a 3/8" won't clear them. :nonono: FUN TIMES. Good luck and lets keep each other posted about possible solutions.

Yes, they are just tall enough to work with the larger rr's but yet I used no spacer of any kind.

I run an Edel RPM so your TFS intake might be a little different.

Sorry for not mentioning it by I am still using my stock cobra intake

I mis read your post and somehow got the idea you were using a TFS intake.

The Cobra intake sits a little lower so you most likely will have to be a little creative when it comes to making everything fit.

Thanks for the input

Thanks for the input. I got my motor back last night and thats when I found the problem. My motor is on my engine stand right now. This Saturday I am going to moch (spelling?) everything up to see what I can figure out. If anybody has any other ideas please let me know. (I which this nightmare would end and I can have my car running again).

Hmm. I was searching for "valve covers" when I found tis thread. I have TFS Street Heats, TFS 1.7 Rockers, TFS intake and Fox valve covers. The oil fill tube works (had to mod the cap a bit), but I DO have to space the intake 3/8" to clear at the EGR valve (which means I have to lengthen my EGR tube, which has been blocked off for now....). I was hoping to find someone else using this combo and STOCK V/C's......
Oh yeah, GRIND the bottom of the EGR valve where it was hitting the Valve Covers.....

Our stock tiny tin vc's are very short to clear everything that might get in the way which is a lot of stuff due to the elbow intake air system thing.

I'm pretty sure the only stud mount rr's that will fit under the stock vc's are the Comp steel rr's.

Those Scorpion's are way too big to get em under the tiny stockers.
