Valve lash?

This is probably a no-brainer for some of you, but i'm on the assembly part of my cam head swap and was going to install the rockers. Now I got a couple different write ups, but I'm not really sure how to go about tightening down the rockers. They say to wait until the exhaust valve is starting up to tighten down the intake valve. Now which one is the intake valve, the one more to the front of the car, or back? and is it different on both heads, like one is towards the front and the other the back? If anyone has a write up too, that would be WONDERFUL!!! Thanks guys

1st question is, are they stud mounted rockers or pedistal style? It makes a difference in adjustment proceedure.

If they are stud, I use the instructions found here.

To determine which valve is which is simple. look at the header or exhaust port on the head. The valve that lines up with it is the exhaust. The other is the intake.

thanks, that's what one of my right ups said about the install, but just being sure. The chilton says 18 ft/lbs of torque, anyone else go by that? Thanks a lot for clarifying, I figured the exhaust would line up, but never hurts to be sure.

The ft/lbs method is for pedistal mount rockers.

The method in the link I posted is for stud mount.

Which do you have??

what is the difference? They just bolt down with a torque bit

Stud mounted rockers are exactly that, they mount on a stud that's threaded into the cylinder head. Pedestal mount rockers bolt down to the cylinder head.
