valve spring and cam setup help

i am in the process of putting a cam in my 88 fox i bought a set of comp dual valve springs that match the cam but ive called two machine shops ant there tellin me they may have to grind the head for clearance at the valve seal anyone herd of this they are stock e7 heads and the cam is only 512 lift. My plan was to lap the valves and throw the springs in myself I just dont see investing much money in a stock set of heads. thanks

He's right...

I just put a set of comp double valve springs on my GT40 heads a few months back. The springs are physically wider at the base than the standard springs. The spring pockets have to be ground bigger. What is he charging you to do it? I think I paid around $50 to have it done. I don't know if this is average or not for pricing. I thought it was good insurance to have the upgraded valve springs though.
