Valve tapping?

Hey guys, I've been noticing a tapping sound anything over 2000rpm. I'm certain it's not detonation. My timing is at 10* and I'm running nothing less than 91 octane with 39psi.

Now day before yesterday, my dad and I set the base timing from 25* to 10* (Wow, I had no idea), to prep for the JMS chip. The chip is not currently installed. The sound, however, was occurring before we adjusted the timing.

I never heard detonation with that much advanced, but could have something been damaged? Or could it simply be a rocker hitting the valve cover?

Any ideas? Things to check for? Thanks.

JR, long time..

If I didn't know any better, I can put my ear next the valve cover at idle and hear it. I'm not really sure if it's just normal for the valve train to make such a noise. As far as getting on it, not as much as you would hear it just driving around town as I've tried and hoping not to get caught. It becomes rather difficult to hear anything after 3800 rpms.

I hear you should re-torque after it heats up and I heard its not nec cuz you will break the seals on the threads. I have not re-torqued mine and everything seems to be fine but I have stock irons on mine. I hear no tapping at all from my rockers even when down close w/ 160K. It is not hard to check them but you have to pull the covers and I torqued mine to 18 #'s.
