Ok, so i go into the ford dealership to talk to the service writer about a couple of things. I told him i knew the general idea of what was wrong with my car. I told him i needed a cylinder balance test done just to see if there are any other problems with my car. he starts talking to me like im a 5 year old child. My natural instinct to being made a mockery of is to raise my voice. I said to him "look, im just trying to figure out if there are any other problems with my car, i dont need you to lecture me like you are my father, now just make me my appointment so i can get the hell out of here." So, I got an appointment on the 7th of September. Why do some of you adults feel the need to belittle us younger guys just bc of our age? Its not fair to us.

Im done. Oh, and this guy was trying to tell me what needs to be done to check the pistons, as if i didnt explain to him what might be needed to be done.

What's worse it the service writers usually have no room to talk down to anyone. I mean, think about it, if they knew so much then why are they not out there working on the cars? Well, they and everyone else in the shop knows this and so they have something to prove. Some service writers are retired techs, but you can point them out. They usually wont' act like that.

Calm down he was probably trying to explain to you in nontechnical terms to make sure you under stand. Not everyone knows about cars in great details. He was just making sure you both were on the same page. Or he's just a jerk.

so then you hate the way that particular service rep was treating you...that in no way reflects upon the rest of the dealership..I work at a ford dealership and if someone told me that my dealership was crap just because one of our employees was an ass I would smack em..although I know that you all are inteligent and know that because one guy was an ass doesn't mean that the dealership isn't a great dealership cause let me tell you I have been screwed out of car deals cause my closer was an ass and I hate how that makes the customer think that the dealership sucks especially after I have spent 3 hours of my time building a repore with the customer and have been a perfect gentleman...anyway hate the service rep for his behavior but do not judge the dealership and rob them of your business for it...tell the man's manager and he'll deal with it

Dude, I work for a dealer also. All the "service writer" is, is a glorified car salesman. By that I mean, all they do is make it seem like they know what they are talking about so you'll buy some service work. Other than that, probably about 75% of them don't know their asss from their elbow. So don't take it personal......they just suck!!!!

you'd think that there would be enought competition for these types of jobs that the people might actually know about cars... oh well, i'm glad my dad is a mechanic and i'm slightly mechanically inclined

The only prob with my dealership is they try to over sell you on everything. I need a positive battery cable only. They would only sell me the entire set for like $400! I needed a TFI module. THey wanted like $150 for something I got out of Jegs for $60. I just always feel like they are trying to rip me off.

even though the title said i hated the ford dealership, anyone with a 3rd grade reading level could read that it was about the service writer. I am sorry if you feel offended that i didnt write "VENT: I hate the Mooresville Ford Dealership's Service Writer but not the dealership bc they are OK but he needs to be talked to by his manager". And I would certainly hope you wouldn't smack someone for saying the dealership you work at is crap. I have worked at a dealership and i know its not the dealership's fault.

Seriously ... most people that go to talk to that guy dont know crap about cars. If he didnt talk that way - most people would probably feel like YOU are feeling now - and the 10% that do know what they were talking about would feel comfortable. If I HAVE to go to Ford ... I just tell the service writer exactly what to type in his little computer! Do what I did and tell him you will wait to talk to the mechanic about the problem - I did, now I only have TWO guys who I will let work on my stuff - my Mustang or my F-350 SD Diesel!!
