Vented Air is Always Hot

So I had to change out my heater core recently and the heater works great now. Um, but how do I turn the heat off?

My car once blew cool air through the vent, but it doesn't anymore. What do you think is causing me to always get hot air?

is the door that closes off the heater core fully closing? (cable stay may have slipped during heater core installation?)
