Vert owners. Any of y'all ever had your vert top replaced?

Hey guys, I have a 99 cobra convertible that has a couple of small cuts in the top. These cuts are probably around 2 inches long and I'm thinking of taking the car to a shop to repair the little cuts but was wondering if any of you all have done this. I was wondering how much it would cost as opposed to just buying a whole new top. The material used on the 03/04 convertibles seems to be better than what I have so that's why I'm also considering a whole new vert top.

I just bought my 96' GT and the PO had the top replaced before I bought it from him. There was a recipt for the new top in the folder of services records he gave me that had the price tag of 680.75 and that was with the headliner included. (does Ford offer the headliner from the factory?) I have never priced tops since this is the first drop top I have owned so I can not tell you if this is a good price or not but I am glad he did it before I bought it!

I am in the same boat as you. I am looking at the Electron package top deal from latemodelresto. $420 with a black top, pads and defrost glass. I already bought new top tension and side tension cables. There is a quality installer who will charge $350 for labor. I figure between $600 and $1000 for parts and install is about the average for a top replacement.
