Very Impressed with Nitto DR's in rain!

Got caught in the rain tonight with my car, (3rd time my car saw rain since I bought her new can't hardly stand it!) I put on my new 10.5" bullits this week with 17 35 DR315 Drag Radials and it's nice to know I can drive normal in wet weather if I have to!. I've had Dot slicks and Bfg drag radials on other cars and that was a complete nightmare!

BTW my old Bullits look great on my wifes Voyager

i've got the 275/50/15 nitto dr's and it seems like they hook better in the rain than my BFgoodrich g-force street tires.

I have 295/35/18 Kumho MX street tires in the rear of my Cobra, and I get REALLY scared driving in heavy rain. On lots of roads where the watter puddles on the sides, if my tire even touches it the rear end of my car usually starts to hydroplane. It's scary as hell. Also wet traction in general is crappy and road imperfections while its raining are hazardous as well.

I know that the wider the tire you have, the worse it is for wet road conditions. But it also seems like the softer, better hooking tire you have, also the worse it is for wet conditions. If its "dangerous" to drive in heavy rain with my current setup, I can't even begin to imagine how hard it would be to drive with drag radials. Do they dissipate water well? I live in Florida and it rains every day here during the summertime.

Im looking to by new tires soon because i like the pedal but how much our nittos and why such the sudden craze for them I read in article in mustangs and fast fords.

I have driven on my Nitto D/Rs for 15K and almost 2 years and they work excellent in the rain. No complaints here

No way...That looks very cool.

I thought about getting Nitto 555's but I think they are overpriced. I did find a used set with about 3000 miles on them for a good price but I don't know if I will get them. I really don't need tires yet. I have Pirelli P6's 255/40/17 and they are excellent in the rain.

At first Nitto D/R's are good in the rain but beware when that center part of tread starts to wear down there like slicks. I lost control of my car once and almost at 70 on the highway when i got caught in rain. 410's didnt help much but it scared the hell out of me!

Yeah, I know what you mean. I've got 20k on mine now (100+dragstrip runs too) and I have to slow my butt down as soon as the sprinkles start. If it starts coming down hard, I cant go over 45-50mph...but they can still take the light stuff pretty well. I must admit though, when they were new they handled just fine in the rain.
