Very noobish question on superchargers

I have the Tork Tech kit, seeing about 10psi.....making 417rwhp.....Stock bottom end, had it over a year and no problems so far. If your going to be spending money on a kit, don't go cheap.....meaning get an intercooled kit. You won't regret it.

Tork Tech, KB are great kits, both are roots style, meaning instant boost, really fun to drive on the streets.
Vortech, Paxton are centri type blowers which are more street friendly(not as fun though), they do get into boost until higher rpms.

Before you buy, do lots and lots of research for what YOU want. Thats you first goal, decide what you want out of your car and how much power you want. then go from there.

What do you mean as in "more street friendly?"

It will be a lot easier to hook the power band of a centrifugal blower than a roots style blower. The roots blower makes a lot more mid-range torque which can get a bit hairy when trying to hook a standard street tire. The power on a centrifugal blower will come in much softer and with a less peak torque, which helps prevent wheelspin.

Yes. :)

a KB will pretty much blow the tires off at will at any speed under 70 MPH. a centri builds more boost with RPM so it is more "tame" on the street.

get the KB!!!!

Haha the KB definitely sounds like a lot more fun. What do you guys have to say about driving around daily on the Nitto DRs? Or will I not see much of a difference over the BFG KDW's without actually heating up the DRs?

DR's are very helpful. my car was worthless with street tires. it would spin at 80 MPH after rolling into the throttle on BFG street tires. after a set of MT's it would hook 1st from a roll and felt like it picked up 100 HP just from being able to hook all the power.

here is an OLD video of my buddies KB car. this was all STOCK except the blower and cat back. watch the speedo...............everyone said his car didnt make the numbers we posted so we made a video of the dyno and a street run

You're killin me man. I want one!

What do you estimate out the door? Fully installed with everything necessary, not including labor.

TS1000-99-INT KIT $4999.00 6-14** PSI KIT W/AC ('99-'04 4.6 MUSTANG 2V) INTERCOOLED INCLUDES BOOST-A-PUMP, CHIP (**14 psi kit NOT 50 State Legal) 2.1L

I was talking about the other small things like injectors, is that really about it?

KB's web page for the 2.1L kit indicates the kit includes:

  • Billet BIG BORE Twin Screw 2.1L Supercharger
  • Hi-Flo Inlet Manifolds
  • Billet Bypass Valve Assembly
  • Bar and Plate Intercooler ("Intercooled" kit only)
  • HD Heat Exchanger ("Intercooled" kit only)
  • Intercooler Pump ("Intercooled" kit only)
  • Water Fill Reservoir ("Intercooled" kit only)
  • Re-calibrated Mono Chip
  • 36lb Injectors
  • BOOST-A-PUMP™
  • Fuel Rails ('96-'00)
  • 160° Calibrated Thermostat
  • Note: All necessary hardware, lines, fittings, gaskets etc. included.

It's basically bolt-in and play. It's expensive but it's comprehensive. You get what you pay for.

Oh very nice, injectors are pricey. 96-00, psht, where are my free fuel rails? ;)
