i just got my 331 running. everything is new- motorsport flywheel, romac balancer, clutch. it vibrates pretty bad when it hits about 2000 rpm. its the eagle 331 with srp pistons.

they said it was an internally balanced motor, so i got the 0 balance flywheel and balancer, i started it up and it was horribly vibrating. then i found out from eagle that its an externally balanced motor and i need the 28oz flywheel and balancer. so i finally got it all done and it still vibrates. i am going to KILL SOMEONE!!!

does anybody know whats going on?

thanks in advance

check out this link here to check out everything i got

Most ford 302 rotating assemblies are balanced at 50Oz or 28oz. If your running a 0oz balanced flywheel and balencer then your motor isnt balanced. It needs to flywheels/dampner conterwieghts to smooth out the rotation of the internals. I wouldnt drive it, you could possibly spin a bearing. I know its possible to acqire the proper weights needed to balance out your balancer without replacing it, along with you flywheel. talk to the company who makes them, good luck

my eagle 347 is 50 ounce. But my assembly was bought a while back. Did YOU get the assembly balanced at a machine shop? Rotating assemblies do come in at 50,28,0 but they are not perfect. The machinsist must use your balancer and flywheel along with your assembly to get it right.

Just curious...who is the "they" that said it was internally balanced? Did you buy it balanced? If not then the whole assembly needs to be balanced. You can't just throw 50 or 28 oz parts at it and expect it to smooth out. The engine needs to be assembled with the parts that it was balanced with. Mike

"they" are the dumbasses at ramchargers. since i thought it was internally balanced, i didnt get it put on the balancer at the machine shop. so now that i have the weighted flywheel and balancer, it will never be perfect because id have to take the shortblock back up to the machine shop with the flywheel and balancer to get it 100% balanced. ramchargers sucks.

now that i have the right balancer and flywheel, it runs pretty good. i will get some rubber or poly motor mounts so i dont feel the little vibrations. i think it will be fine.

do those little vibrations between 2000-3000 rpm cause engine damage?
