I installed a clutch on my wifes cousins 90 mustang gt we bought the flywheel from Orellys and the king cobra clutch from brothers performance (they are 20 mins from me) when you turn on the car it idles fine when you rev it up the vibration starts around 2500rpm and just gets worse until you hit 4000rpm.We found that the motor mounts were shot (the oil pan just sitting on the crossmember LOL) we replaced them and the vibration is way less but its still there.Keep in mind that it didnt do this before the clutch swap .I checked the harmonic balancer and its still intact so I suspect the flywheel but I need input from the driveline pros or anybody that had this issue after swapping out a clutch before I need to take it down again.

Thanks :SNSign:

Did you replace the pilot bearing? Were you carefully not to knick it/knock it out? Back when I first started working on cars I couldn't get the tranny to go all the way in on my 1st clutch install. About 1/8" was sticking out of the bellhousing so I did the unthinkable and sucked it the rest of the way in with the bolts instead of pushing the clutch in and out like I should have to get it to fully seat. In doing so I knocked the pilot bearing out. This in turn made for a nasty vibration and I actually bent the shaft in the transmission by doing this and driving it. The flywheel only goes on one way as the holes are not symmetrical so it can't be out of sync. Are you sure the flywheel was the right imbalance? If its a stock bottom end it should be a 50oz imbalance.

Nope I didnt replace the pilot bearing I looked at it and felt good with my finger but something in the back of my mind told me I should change it .The flywheel is the stock replacement but I've heard people have issues with reman flywheels from Orellys so I will go exchange it just in case its still under warranty

Probably a bad flywheel. Keep in mind, the stock flywheel is balanced with the crank and harmonic balancer. You will not get the same level of balance once you put a new flywheel on there. That's why it's always best to just resurface the stock flywheel.

Thanks for all the tips we are going to tear it down tonight and go swap out the flywheel and the pilot bearing the reason for not resurfacing the flywheel was the fact that it looked cut already and it has a bunch of little cracks when I did mine two years ago it was no where near as bad as this one

Update

After changing out the flywheel and the pilot bearing it still has a slight vibration not as bad now Im leaning towards the clutch which we are not happy about because its the king cobra clutch and its only 4 weeks old. The vibration was there since day one so it wasnt a break in issue it still doesnt have 500 miles yet Im even thinking its still not broken in yet but any body that has installed the King cobra clutch in their stang please chine in with your experinces with the clutch

I haven't had any problems like that with the King Cobra clutch. However, I am new to manual transmissions and this is my first King Cobra. I did the swap myself; as you found out, it isn't very hard. I haven't noticed any new vibrations since the clutch went in. If it is the clutch, you could just have had a bad one. It's also possible the clutch didn't break in right because of the pilot bearing.

I installed a King Cobra clutch in my old 93 GT, bought it brand new. Installed it and had slight vibration, not really bad, but since I'm a perfectionist and want a smooth ride I wasn't satisfied. I pulled it all down and replaced only the PP with a well-used stocker I had laying around. Vibration disappeared. Since then I've been weary about running any King Cobra PP's. And King Cobra's seem to eat clutch cables for breakfast in my experiences.
