Vibration

I am sure that this has been talked about before. I just bought a 5.0 mustang and it has a bad vibration at 2000 rpm. It is supposed to have these resent mod. rebiult 306, cam, new centerforce clutch, and rebiult trans. When I bought the car I had noticed the harmonic balencer had a little woble. So i got a new one and this helped but the vibration is still there. Has anyone had a problem like this?

Sound like a balancing issue with the engine, or possible the driveshaft was not put back on the way it was taken off throwing it out of balance. Hows the car run when you drive it?

Does it vibrate while driving and/or in neutral? If it is while driving I would try and turn the driveshaft 180 and see what happens. Also check the wheels for balance issues. At what rpm does it go away? What mph is it at when it vibrates? Or in any gear while at 2000 rpm.

it vibrates all of the time, but it is at its worst at 2000 rpm. It does it in nutural as well so it is not in the drive shaft or tires. The engine has a slight miss in it, but the exhaust smells very rich.

If it does it while stationary, I would be lookin at a balance issue, rather than anything in the rotating drivetrain (like they all said - they just did not have the info yet).

Balancer, flywheel, misses, etc.

You can do things like pulling plug wires one at a time (be careful), spraying water on headers, doing a cylinder balance test (that is a quick and dirty way to find which cylinder is not up to par), etc.

The other guys will have good ideas.
