I like Paul's idea (though there are a lot of variables given the work you just did). Did you index the DS before removing (and upon installing) it?
The U-joints really should be inspected when the DS is out for a clutch job (not a rip there- just for future reference).
If you have the stock quadrant and pawl, you can pull up on the clutch pedal to adjust the freeplay.
