OK guys,

So a local guy is selling his fox, and these are the specs on a fresh engine build. I've always "heard" that the Victor Jr heads flowed too much for a basically stock 302, BUT this car does have a custom Cam in it.

Cam:224/232. Intake lift 542/563 exhaust lift. 112lsa+4
1.7 rocker arms
TRW Pistons
10.074 compression ratio (according to build sheet)
Trickflow intake
24# injectors

I test drove the car and seems to pull harder than my mach1 (12.9 in 1/4). This car hasn't been on the dyno or track so I have no clue what kind of numbers or times it will pull. It has no tune right now, but there wasn't much surging when i drove it.

Any idea on numbers/times? Comments/opinions welcome

From those specs it looks like it is a TFS Stage II cam PT#51402001

Victor Jrs can work on a 302 if you spin it hard enough, Id like to see more compression in the combo however. In the past I have done a 306 with Victor Jrs, a Victor 5.0 intake, 10.5:1 compression, 30# inj, custom cam, spun it to 7000rpm and made great power and went mid 10's in a car that had all the suspension goodies and a chassis that worked....4:30 or 4:56 gear as well.

The Victor Jr heads do not flow all that much IMO....

Yes sir I do beleive you are right about the cam specs. After quite a bit of research last night, it seems as though those cam specs are the stage 2 cam from trickflow or the anderson b4... So much for "custom" haha. Oh well, I didn't pay for it.

Based on what I've read, I'm a little worried about PTV since the pistons are factory replacements, but would it be safe to assume that theres enough clearance considering the car runs strong? I really don't know whether the piston slapping the valve is an instant "boom" or can it be more "gradual" over time type problem?

I had assumed the TRW's were an aftermarket variety that had larger valve reliefs to clear the 2.05" intake valve. I would ask for the build sheet to verify what is in the motor, or they will not have the proper radial clearance and should hit.
