me and my bud are rebuilding a 69 mach 1 351 cleveland. i remember seeing a vin decoder thingy a few years back that lets u know what trim color, exterior color, and engine, etc, that your car should have. i would appreciate any help u guys can give me. thank u

Quick question. The plate that contains all the optional info such as body color, options, etc, was removed. It should be on the door jam correct? If so, its not there. All I have is the vin, which could be wrong, because the dash pad may have been replaced. Is there a vin on teh chassis somewhere, or another plate? Thanks

it should be in several places. on mine I found another vin on the front rad support on top. sorda hard to read but it it there. there shoul dbe another one on in/on the cowl. I can't remember how many there are but there should be several through out the body.

The vin plate should be on the left side just under the windshield. It's attached to the sheetmetal and not the dash pad. Post it so we can check it out. The vin should also be on the top of the inner fender apron just under the fender flange.

Well after running the vin thats on the dash pad, I would assume its correct. It comes up with all the info that is correct, convertible, 351c 4v, built in dearborn, etc. However, is there another place where I can find the trim plate?

ok sorry. I'm talking about my 73 convertible. What did you want pictures of? There is no plate or sticker on my doorjambs for the trim code. Although I do have my vin, thats it. My question is if I can find out the detailed info thats normally on the trim plate, such as another place to look.

You can get a history 999 report from Ford. Takes a few weeks but the one page report you get back should have the door jam code information that you are missing and it will be decoded. I don't remember the number you call. Anyone know the number to call?
