VIN number assignment - When?

Hi Guys,

I ordered a GT 140A a little over a week ago. The dealer told me they dont acually assign a VIN number till "AFTER" the car is built. Can someone please let me know if this correct? Thanks!

You can get a VIN assigned earlier, but the system isn't perfect.

I had no schedule and no VIN a week or so ago, and then I got a VIN and a schedule of 10/11 (build this week) over this weekend. I now have an ETA of 11/2.

So you can get a VIN very late and still accelerate right to a build. YMMV.

Thanks for setting me straight. I just dont want the dealer to sell mine to someone else. I suppose I just need to keep checking with them on VIN assignment.
