Volume REALLY low after taking out cd player

any ideas? i took out the factory unit since it didn't work and i'm gonna mount my nitrous switch and maybe a gauge or two in there instead. when i got it out, the radio volume is low no matter how high i turn it, even with it all the way up and ipod all the way up.

uninstall it then reinstall. see if that works.

on a sidenote: how did you hook up your Ipod?

Sounds like you're only getting sound through your front tweeters now.

yeah ill try rehooking it then taking it back out tomorrow. and i just have a tape player hook up for the ipod.

Diablo, why would i just be getting sound from the front tweeters?

Cause the same thing happened to me when I removed my factory CD player to put in a switch panel.... So I just said screw it and bought a new head unit. :SNSign:

gay. anybody else know of how to fix this?

EDIT: also, got any pics of the switch panel? im gonna be making my own for any that have any advise

i know with the amps under the seat you need to use a bypass harness to hook up aftermarket speakers in my 93 so maybe its the same with a headunit also??

Probably not the best way, but it worked for me...
get back at the plug that went into the cd player, then jump wires till the speakers come back on. I forget which wires need jumped, but you'll have to make a three way jumper. It's not cosmic, just a bit of ingenutiy to find the right wires. If you NEED it, I'll take a picture of what I did.

ok, i need a little clarification. there are 2 plugs that went into the back of the cd player, one has prob 5 or 6 wires going to it, the other i think has 2. by "jump 3 wires" do you just mean splice 3 together? is there no danger of shorting something and screwing up my whole system if i splice the wrong ones?

trying to upload a photo for you, taking forever though...
in the meantime...the fat gray wire (more like a covering), with the L shaped connector 6 pin plug, is the one you want....make a Y, or 2 into 1 jumper wire. bear with me here...
hold the gray wire in your hand, wire going toward the floor and look at the plug
you'll see the receivers kinda like this

jump 2 to 3 and 3 to 6

by jumper wire I mean, take a small piece of wire, strip the ends and shove it in the receptacle. (this could be taken way out of context hahaha)
Worked for me,....as far as problems, couldn't tell you what may encounter, who knows?
It's worked for me for a year trouble free, just haven't had time to replace the whole system with a-market stuff.

thanks hef. works great now. i actually just used 1 wire, put one end in #1 and split the other to go in 3 and 6

well if you did it this way i hope you used a big wire like the ones pictures other wise it will get hot you will have to much resistance running on the undersized wires and your prone to the wires melting and a possible fire
