I have a Vortech V3 SCi kit on my stock motor (which has ~190k miles), and I notice that regularly (I've had to clean it a few times) the supplied air filter ends up completely coated in oil or grime. Is this normal? There's the vent hose going from the oil filler neck on the valve cover to the plastic shield over the air filter, could it be related to that?

Yes, it's normal, especially if you boost a lot. Some run a catch can.
