Hey guys I'm putting my 408 together and want to put in a fitting for a Vortech YSI trim blower. What size fitting is it and where are you supposed to install it on the pan? Does anybody have the Vortech instructions they can post up? I've got a Canton 7qt pan and want to get the fitting on it before installing the pan.

if you have the pan off and in your hands, have someone weld a 3/8 NPT bung into your oil pan . the vortech fitting is a 3/8 npt thread. just have a fitting welded in will be the ideal way since the pan it not on the engine.

and it doesnt matter where it goes. just as long as its above the oil level so the oil will drain back, the best place is on the front sump on the passenger side where vortech suggests.

Sweet, thanks man. I thought it was 1/2" so good thing I asked. This is going to sound stupid but i'm used to blowers with self contained oil like KB's but where does the oil feed into the blower if the bung on the pan is just a return fitting?

The Vortech kits come with fittings to use from your block where your oil pressure sender is. On a S-trim the feed is on the top and the return is close to the bottom.

EDIT: Picture of feed on top:

And if you look carefully here you can see the return with the small blue cover on it

yeah the bung in the pan is a drain and like stated above the oil is fed from where your oil pressure sending unit is.

you take your oil pressure sending unit out of the block and thread in a small pipe and then a t fitting and etc to feed the blower and then you pressure sending unit goes back on vortechs fitting.
