i recently bought a 94 cobra that is supercharged by a vortech s-trim supercharger. when idling at a complete stop that thing screams! but once i give it a little gas, it quiets down a whole lot, you can barley hear it...are the bearings going out in it? or is that just the way it is suposto sound?
thanks

S-trim's have straight gut gears, the howling at idle is normal. If you want something quieter, change the head unit to an SQ.

just tell them you have a bad muffler bearing and your blinker fluid is running low

I don't belive it is a squeal...you guys are kidding right. Why would you want a squealing sound?
Maybe u do have a bearing of some sort failing?

Can you hear the SQ? I was thinking of getting one or the other, I wanted to hear it, but not quite as loud as the S-Trim. That bad boy is loud!

95CobraMike,

There's a video where you can listen and see if yours sounds like this.

It's an SC Trim

My brother's S-trim on his '90 LX doesn't squeal -- it has a gear whine, sounds like a low-pitched whistle at idle. Anything above 900 RPM or so and it changes to a turbine whine (much, much higher pitch and much quieter). And with any throttle the engine drowns out the blower altogether .

Sounds like that car is having bearing failure also?
Must be common on Vortech cars.

The SQ is a whole bunch quieter -- you can still hear it, but it's a high pitch turbine kind of sound, very pleasant to the ears. The SC in that video sounds exactly like my brother's S-trim.

No, that's normal, an S-trim sounds just like that from the moment you pull it out of the box. Straight cut gears . I could never do that on my daily driver, it sounds kinda cool but I think it would get old after awhile.
